What did we do?
Persuasive paragraphs:
We had to highlight the topic sentence and key words of the sample paragraph. We had to chose one of the topics for exercise one and for exercise 2 we had to chose one of the topics or chose something from our heart maps.
Note making booklet:
Ms.Lees handed out a booklets on note making. You had to read through the paragraph on the first page and highlight the main points.
She also started conferencing today and handed out a sheet to explain what to do on the spelling bee.
Why we did it?
We did the persuasive paragraphs so that we understand what to do when we write persuasive paragraphs. She gave us the booklet on note making so that we would understand how to take notes and not make mistakes and so we understand how to find the main point. We got the sheet on the spelling bee so we would understand the rules on the spelling bee when we do it.
Connections and reflections:
Later on in the future we would be writing essays and writing paragraphs is very similar because in a essay you need a topic paragraph, two or three paragraphs on points, and a concluding paragraph. Persuasive paragraphs can also be helpful during debates and maybe if you are a politician convincing people to vote for you. Note making would be needed when we write down notes to study for science, social study, math tests and more. Spelling bees help develop experience talking in front of people.
Homework and tips:
Persuasive paragraph, exercise 1 and 2 for the note making booklet, and practicing for the spelling bee.
There is a geography test on Friday, so study hard!
Roger would be posting for tomorrow.
