What did we do..?
Today , we needed hand in our diary for the roles. For the people who didn't to the diary project, they needed to do it in class time. The teacher divided the people who did their homework randomly in to groups of five people. We worked on our drama script which is due tomorrow. We needed to think about what props are we going to bring, how are we going to wear when we are presenting and etc.
Why did we do that...?
-We wrote the diary to make ourselves clear about the roll that we are working on right now and learn about it more.
-Presenting drama to the class about the roll that we are working on makes you to feel comfortable and to understand what your "roll" actually does.
Connections...
If i get an assignment similar to this project, I would probably do the same step as what I did for this project.
1. Understand what your "roll" is.
2. Pick 4 sub topics. (clothing, duties and etc)
3. Research on internet, read books that is related to it and take notes.
4. Make a better copy of the note.
5. Write diary.
This will really help to understand why my roll is about.
Homework
- Prepare the script
Tips
- Listen to the teacher carefully

My Thirty Days Challenge Update
My new challenge is going great so far! I have not watched anime since last Friday which was my exception. This goal is achieved thanks to my parents sneaking in the room whenever I am on the computer and scaring me half to death and encouraging me not to watch anime. The only day I cheated was a Saturday when I thought something was a western cartoon not a anime. The only bad thing about this challenge is that I get anime deprived and start reading a lot of manga online. A few hours past without me noticing. I am going to work hard on this challenge!

What we did today :
Today we went to the library for the Middle Ages project researching. Ms.Lees was not here today so Mme Monk started the class for us. Mme Monk explained the easy way of making a bibliography for books. After she explained to us, the whole class went to go research on their roles of the Middle Ages. While you researched, you would have to take notes on your role in the Middle Ages.
Why we did it :
Mme Monk explained to us the easy way of researching bibliography for books so we can save time and get to know how to research more better.
We also researched information on your own roles in the Middle Ages so we can get to know more about out role in the Middle Ages and that it will be easier to role play.
Connections :
Learning about the Middle Ages can be helpful in the future when learning about history or social studies. Researching facts on the Middle Ages can also be helpful in the future when assigned to research on the Middle Ages. Researching this can also improve your researching skills and improve skills in taking notes or facts.

*Sigh* I still have to make up for other people posting on my day. Ms.Lees was not here today the the librarian Mme.Monk was teaching us today.
What did we do?
Today was our last day to use the library for research on our roles in the middle ages.
Mme.Monk taught us at the beginning of the class the easy way of making our bibliography for books. Go to our school website: http://www.sd36.bc.ca/frshts/index2.htm and click on the library thing on the left side. Then select library catalogue and chose our school.Or you can just search up Fraser heights library on Google and click on our library which should be the first one. Click on catalogue. Search up what ever book you used and click add to this list. When you are done with all you books, click on resource list on the left. Click on my list. At the bottom of that page, you will find create and some selecting things. Find bibliography, sort by Author/Title, unclick show notes ant press go! There you have all the things on the criteria! For the rest of our block, we worked on our notes, bibliography, and our "A day in the life of..." journal for our character.
Why we did it:
The easier way really takes less time than finding all of the data we need to make our bibliography and then writing it down. Taking advantage of our time and doing our researching saves a lot more time for you to do other stuff then homework at home. If your computer does not work at home you can use the computer at the library to do your online research. Doing this project really increases our understanding the lives of the people in the middle ages.
Connections:
This easier way of doing a bibliography can really help when we are doing bibliography for other stuff like a science project, where you have to do a bibliography. Learning about life in the middle ages can help us when the subject comes up again the the future. I also helped us develop researching skills that are obviously needed in the future when we need to write a paper about something that we have no idea what it is. So we have to do research on it.
Homework:
-"There will be wolves" chapter 9 questions due on Thursday
-All researching should be done by Friday

My 30 day challenge goal was accomplished. My 30 day challenge was to play piano for an hour a day and drink 6 glasses of water a day. For my 30 day challenge I would like to thank my parents for encouraging me everyday to drink 6 glasses of water and play piano for an hour. Although my 30 day challenge has ended, I decide to continue with it because I find that it benefits me.
I feel impressed on my progress. As for my peers, I feel great to their progress to.

What we did today:
Today, we went to the library to get our roles for "Middle ages" project. It was chosen randomly. After you get your roles, we went in to the groups that is related to your role (such as religious , royal, and etc) We looked in to some historical book and researched with group members. When we were taking notes, we used the note taking skill that the teacher taught us such as Web, Cornell and etc.
Why we did this:
We are doing this "Middle ages" project because it helps you to understand more about middle ages and "There will be wolves" because you need to research and find information about your role. We went in to the groups when you were researching and finding information because the group members have the same theme so they can help you, if you have a question. We used our taking note skills which was very useful.
Connections:
-I really didn't get what nuns do and what kind of job it was but after I researched about it , I learned about it and got more other information not only what kind of job it was.
-We probably are going to use the note taking skill almost entire school years so we need to improve on that.
Homework:
- Chapter 9 there will be wolves questions
Tips:
- Research your roles at home to get more information.

Blog Post
What we did today:
Today Ms. Lees showed us some note taking skills that we could use in the future when we take notes. I learned a lot today, best not to have crutch words like so, but, it, um...etc and also not to have "I think" and also "In my opinion". Those show bad type of note taking and we don't want that. Ms. Lees showed us a couple of examples of notes today and all of the people who volunteered did a very good job on the notes. Ms. Lees showed them some points were they can develop their skills and what to add in the notes and what not to add in the notes. I learned a lot today about notetaking!!! In the last 20 minutes, we watched a lot of short and funny youtube videos about the crusades and the knights, nuns, kings...etc.... We were suppose to make a skit about one of the characters in the mid ages so those videos showed us a lot of examples of skits and comedy we can use to do our project. The youtube videos were also entertaining and my favourite video was THE KNIGHT SONG!!!!!
Why we did this:
Ms. Lees showed us the note taking skills because she wants us in the future to do a better job on these notes, also so we all, as a class, can improve and do better in note taking. After that we watched youtube videos!!!!! We did that because we can get ideas from the video for our project we are going to be working on in the future which is making a skit. The video helped me a lot.... now I have an idea for what my project is going to be on.
Connections:
The note taking helped me get more idea on how to do better notes. Ms. Lees helped me improve a little bit of my note taking. Note taking is a skill I can use in the future when I need to skit down ideas real quick, I can use note taking for that. The youtube videos showed us more about the mid ages characters and also it helped me a little on getting idea's for my project.
Homework:
- Chapter 9 there will be wolves questions
Tips:
- Respect your parents

I am posting today to make up for days that people took my day to post to catch up.
What did we do?
Today Ms.Lees was away so we had a substitute. For the first block we took notes on pages 47 to 53.
It had to be one of the note taking skills we learned already like the web of the cornell. If we finish the note taking, we were supposed to write a diagram comparing a woman's right in the middle ages and woman's rights right now. It was on pages 50-51 and page 53. There was another page in chapter five somewhere too, tittles 'woman's rights in late middle ages'.Majority of the people did Venn Diagrams. If we finished all of that, we start working on chapter 8 questions for "There Will Be Wolves".
During second block we worked on the thing mentioned in the first block. When you finished everything all the work done in the the textbooks, you show your notes and diagram to the teacher and she checks your name off. near the end of the class the substitute hands back our chapter 1-5 questions for "There Will Be Wolves". The substitute told us why we got some marks like a "X"( Which was because we either did not do the questions or misunderstood it.)She also wrote down how we could make it better, like never writing down"I think..."or "In my opinion..."ever unless it asks you to.
Why we did it:
We took notes so we could study them when there is a test on the chapter and to improve our note taking skills. Understanding the differences between a woman's rights back then and now shows us not to take our rights for granted. The questions for our novels really help us understand the story and therefore deepening our knowledge about the crusades.
Knowing what we could do the questions better will greatly improve our grades for writing.
Connections:
Understanding more about the middle ages(what these entire blocks were about) really helps us when we get to university if you study for history. The knowledge helps when you write a novel about life in the middle ages.
Homework:
- "There Will Be Wolves" chapter 8 questions is due Friday(tomorrow)
Tips:
Having you parents check over your answers help! (Unless they do not understand or is not good in English)If the understood the what the questions was without seeing the question sheet then anybody els who knows the language could too!

my challenge
I gave up on my old challenge because I have been seriously forgetting about it for the past 3 days.
My new challenge is to not watch anime* for a month except for Fridays , because I haven't watched anime since Friday last week. The reason for the exception is I attend Anime Club once every Friday and sometimes we watch anime. My reason for this challenge is because I want to rest my eyes so my eye degree does not climb higher and higher each year. Sight is lovely and I do not want to lose it. I plan to reach my goal by telling my parents that if I watch any anime at home, they are free to take away my computer privilege for a day. I value my computer time a lot because it is one of my only ways to get in touch with some of my friends that I do not see any more.
* watch anime: anime and manga are two entirely different things, manga is a type of book you read and anime is sort of like a cartoon you watch. So do not blame at me if you see me reading manga at the library!

What we did today:
Today, our whole class learned a little bit about the high middle ages. First, we learned about the different classes in the high middle ages. We had the kings, great nobles, lesser nobles, minor nobles, and the commoners(serfs and freeholders). It was pretty interesting to learn about these things because I never actually knew anything about the high middle ages. We also learned a bit about the Oats of Allegiance. There was 2 classes of the Oats of Allegiance: Canadian oath of citizenship, and also the vassal oath of allegiance. We compared the difference and the similarities about the 2 classes of oaths.
Why we did this:
We did this is to learn more about the history of the high middle ages. We also did the venn diagram because it can improve our skills of comparing.
Connections:
I think the things that we learned today were pretty interesting. I never knew anything about the high middle ages other than the crusaders so I think its pretty interesting to learn about the high middle ages. I also think that the venn diagram skill can help me in the future when I need to compare 2 things or more.
Homework.
-ch.7 there will be wolves if not finished
Tips:
-Try to stay focused in the class, copy down notes. You will eventually learn a lot about the high middle ages

Blog Post
Sorry, I was at USA yesterday so I didn't really get a chance
What we did:
On Thursday, we reviewed with the class about our 30 day challenge and also we watched a short part of the movie on the crusades. So far it was very interesting to hear everyone's 30 day challenge and so far I think its been a bit hard for me to do my 30 day challenge. We also did a little bit of the chapter 6 question for there will be wolves.
Why we did it:
We reviewed everyone's 30 day challenge so we can get a closer look to see who is doing there's and who's not doing there 30 day challenge. The other reason why we reviewed everyone's 30 day challenge is that we (as a class) can help the people struggling with the challenge to succeed the 30 day challenge! We took a look at the movie after. The reason why we looked at the movie is because we get a closer look at what the crusades were like back then. I learned actually quite a lot after watching that movie. I never actually knew anything about the crusades so this movie helped me a lot! After that, we took a little time doing some there will be wolves question (ch.6). The teacher also gave us some tips for doing the questions and showed us how the question should be done. In the last 10 minutes of class time we did some there will be wolves questions.
Homework:
-Chapter 6 questions for there will be wolves
Tips:
If you are struggling with the 30 day challenge here are some tips:
-Make a schedule
-Tell you parents what your doing and ask them for help
-Try to motivate yourself by giving yourself an award in the end
-Ask your friends or peers to help you

30 Day Challenge
For my 30 day challenge I have chose to try and excersise more, eating healthier, drinking the recommended servings of water per day, do my homework more, organize my binders better and play less video games. I chose all these things because I excersise alot but somedays less then others, so by eating healthier and drinking enough water it will get easier to excersise more. I chose to do my homework more so I would do better in school, organizing my binders will help me find work easier. I chose to play video games less because i would always get distracted my by video games, so i would ignore my homework to play video games instead. I plan on being able to reach my goals by listening to my brother for the excersise and eating better, for the water I will bring a water bottle to school. Also for the homework, do it before i play video games.

What we did today?
Today basically what we did was we reviewed our 30 day challenge post and also we did some there will be wolves questions. We also looked at some of the other blogs like Mrs. Morresettes blog. It was pretty unique and I thought the blog was cool. We also talked about how the 30 day challenge was related to the IDEO shopping cart video.
Connections:
I find that the IDEO shopping cart video was related to the 30 day challenge because you will need teamwork in order to achieve the 30 day challenge goal.
Homework:
-There will be wolves: chapter 5 questions
Blog Post: 30 day challenge
Personally its kind of hard thinking up for a 30 day challenge so I decided to do math challengers questions for 30 days! It's going to be kind of hard because I am mostly the kind of guy who is not focused so I will need help from my parents to keep me focused. I had already started on my 30 day challenge so I hope that both of my parents can help me do this challenge and I am hoping to improve a lot on my math skills!

30 Days Challenge
My 30 day challenge is to subtract Call of Duty (Video Games) to 2 hours a day. Also to add healthy eating, excersising more, drinking 8 glasses of water a day to stay more hydrated, and to start organizing my binders better.
Reminders
Since we spent the day revieiwing criteria, I thought it would be helpful to point out that tonight's homework had 3 parts and the format expected was a paragraph. Check out my blog to review and update your posts please.
30 day challenge
My 30 day challenge is to practice piano everyday for an hour a day. To not eat to much junk food or unhealthy food and drink more water rather than pop or any drinks that contains soda inside it.
If I practice piano enough, I can get better and play more advanced music. If I eat and drink more healthy, I would be more fit and active.
If I practice piano enough, I can get better and play more advanced music. If I eat and drink more healthy, I would be more fit and active.
30 days Challenge
My goal is to practice guitar for 2 hours each day. If I don't get lazy and keep force my self to do it. I'm obviously going to get better eventually. I might have a chance to play for the talent show.
My Challenge
My challenge is to drink at least drinking seven glasses of water each day. I think that i do not drink enough water every day because my water drinking habit vary from 2-5. I am really scared of getting dehydrated. I have also heard that drinking seven glasses of water helps with sleeping and growing taller. I really need to grow taller if you know my height. Drinking water also helps with staying healthy since our body is made out of eighty percent water. I plan to achieve this goal by getting my parents to remind me to drink water and bring a bottle of water to school. This is why I chose to make my challenge to drinking seven glasses of water everyday.

What did we do?
Today Ms. Lees critiqued some blogs with the whole class. First she chose a volunteer and went on their blog to see our posts. We talked about each posts and gave them a mark out of five. Some ways to improve our posts is to give examples and separating homework and tips.
Connections:
Looking at other peoples blog posts and critiquing them is like editing a story. Almost anything you do in life need the skill of editing, for example a teacher has to check students work or mark it too. Thirty days challenges help you by staying healthy when you challenge yourself to walk to school everyday for thirty days.
doing the challenge and actually manage to finish it helps with getting things done. You will need the skill with with getting homework done in various subjects.
Homework:
We have to post our own thirty days challenge and write a paragraph about it on our blogs.
Tips:
If you need ideas for the challenge here are some examples:
- Walking/biking to school
-Staying off of Facebook
-Taking a photo each day
-Writing a novel
-Drink more water
-Stop drinking carbinated drinks
The challenge must be possible to do and not something like writing a dictionary everyday or stop dinking for a month.

After critiquing a few posts, Ms.Lees showed us a video called "Matt Cutts: Try something new for 30 days". You will find a link on Ms.Lees's blog. Here is the link: http://www.ted.com/talks/matt_cutts_try_something_new_for_30_days.html.
The video is about this man who took upon challenges for thirty days straight. Some examples are writing a novel, taking a picture each day and walking/biking to school or work. Ms.Lees told us to brainstorm our own thirty days challenge during the fifteeen minutes left.
Why we did it:
We looked at other people's blog posts and critiqued them so that we would know what Ms.Lees was looking for in our posts. An example is that we did not stray to a different subjects. A thirty days challenge can help us with humanities is when your challenge is to read a book or at least a chapter from a book consistently for thirty days. Its improves your reading skills. Doing stuff consistently helps you when you do homework by actually remembering to do homework because you are so used to doing something consistently.Connections:

January 31st, 2012
Sorry I'm a day late. My computer had internet problems.
On January 31st, the first thing we did was re-watch the shopping cart video. Then we took more notes on the video, she asked us how it relates to out group working posters.
The reason we watched the video was because because it related to group work.
After taking the notes and watching the video, two groups presented their posters on the book they read during winter break. The two posters were on the books "The Boy and the Samurai" and "Blood Red Horse".
After the presenting, the teacher gave us the rest of the class time to work on work that were unfinished. To the people who were all caught up, they had to read chapter 3 of "There will be wolves"
Homework we got was to read chapter 3 of "There will be wolves"
